It is that time of year, the PGA Tour kicks off its 2008 in Hawaii for the Mercedes-Benz Championship! However, some of the biggest names in golf have once again skipped this opening event.

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington have all decided to skip this opening event. Tiger is not scheduled to tee it up until 01/24/08 at the Buick Invitational played on Torrey Pines in San Diego, CA. Is this a tune up for Tiger? Looking ahead the U.S. Open will be contested on the same course in June. The other majors will be played at Augusta, Oakland Hills and Royal Birkdale. Could this be the year where Tiger captures all four majors or will somebody else step up to the plate? Stay tuned, it should be an exciting year on the PGA Tour!
