A common fault that many golfers face is an improper placement of their top hand on the grip. The majority of golfers tend to place the golf club up in the palm of their top hand.
This fault leads to two tendencies:
By having an open clubface at impact the golf ball will tend to slice, resulting in a loss of distance and difficulty getting the golf ball to fly towards their intended target.
By applying too much pressure on the golf club, the wrists will not have the ability to hinge naturally during the swinging motion. This makes it extremely difficult to develop the necessary angles to increase the speed of their golf club during the forward swinging motion.
Instead of holding the club up in the palm of the top hand, place the club through the fingers. This will allow the wrists to free themselves up while at the same time applying the necessary pressure in the fingers not to let go of the club during the swinging motion. It will also allow the clubface to rotate naturally during the swinging motion so that it ends up square at impact.
