Height of tee:.

Many golfers believe that the golf ball should be teed up low to the ground.  They tend to set the golf ball underneath the top edge of the driver.  This misconception can lead to problems with respect to the angle of approach into the golf ball with the clubhead.  By teeing the golf ball up low the golfer tends to hit down at the ball.  This produces a downward angle of approach not conducive consistent tee shots.

Especially with today’s larger headed drivers, it is important to tee the ball up where at least half the golf ball is set up above the top edge of the driver.  Remember, you are trying to catch the golf ball with a slight upward angle of approach into it.  By teeing the ball up higher, you are creating the space necessary for this upward angle of approach to generate.

When teeing the golf ball up with clubs other than the driver, the majority of golfers tend to set the ball too high up off the ground.  The idea should be to tee the ball up so that the ball is no higher than the middle of the clubface or even slightly below.

A final thought has to do with playing into a head wind with the driver.  Most golfers tend to lower their tee height when faced with this situation.  However, this creates the downward angle of approach.  When playing into a head wind, tee the golf ball up at your normal height.  Do not change your swing.
